After nearly two years of construction, work on State Spur 1570, which commissioners voted to name after former Hunt County Judge John Horn, is nearly complete according to TxDOT officials.
Both city council and Hunt County Commissioners have passed resolutions requesting the Texas Legislature name 1570 John Horn Parkway. The signage will be placed at the northern part of 1570, near the intersection of Hwy 380 and at I-30 and 1570. The decision will be made when Legislature reconvenes early next year.
Texas Department of Transportation began work on 1570 on Jan. 13, 2017.
Contractor AK Gillis & Sons, out of Sulphur Springs, Texas, was chosen to complete this new roadway at an estimated cost of more than $7.1 million.
TxDOT officials said 1570 will connect State Highway 66 and US 380 on the southwest side of Greenville. The spur will begin near the intersection of SH 66 and 1570 and extend northwestward to Hwy. 380.
