#Giving Tuesday is only a week away. What will you be doing on Nov. 27 – resting up and thinking about the money you saved at the Black Friday sales? With those savings in mind, the global event of #Giving Tuesday was born.
The idea behind it was that the Thanksgiving holiday sales made it possible to save substantial amounts of money on purchases. Since charities are always seeking donations and often fall short at the end of each year, the hope was and is that shoppers would donate some of the money they saved to their favorite charities.
The Creative Arts Center joined the movement last year but took the idea a step further. For every donation they received in their #Giving Tuesday campaign, they donated a coat or heater to the Fannin County Crisis Center’s annual drive for those items.
“Paying it forward – that’s the spirit behind #Giving Tuesday,” said arts center Executive Director Lisa Avila. “Working together helps all of us.”
Need a reason to give to the Creative Arts Center? How about Outreach programs like Art in the Park; concerts; Art Festivals; musical evenings and wine downs; lectures; or, maybe classes and workshops for you or the kids with scholarship opportunities? There are so many reasons to support the Creative Arts Center. And, for every donation, the arts center will once again donate a coat or heater to the Fannin County Crisis Center.
If you’ve never visited the Creative Arts Center, admission is free and their hours are Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. They have a Facebook page and their website has more information at www.creativeartscenterbonham.com.
The arts center is located at 200 W. 5th Street, one block west of the Bonham square. Call 903-640-2196 for more information. This #Giving Tuesday, please donate to one of your charities and pay it forward.
