At about 10:50 a.m., Quinlan Fire Department, Cash Rescue, HCEMS, along with Department of Public Safety Troopers were dispatched to an accident at State Highway 34 and private drive 3780, just one mile south of Quinlan before the Kaufman county line.
Trooper Kyle Bradford said preliminary investigation indicates a grey Ford Escape was traveling from private road 3780 failed to yield right of way to a cement truck while turning south onto State Highway 34.
He said the cement truck, traveling south on State Highway 34, attempted to avoid the collision but clipped the back left side of the Ford Escape, then swerving into the north bound lanes of State Highway 34 striking a Ford Flex head on.
The driver and passenger of the Ford Escape were transported to a Dallas hospital by Air Evac 67 and Flight For Life helicopters, with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the cement truck was transported to Hunt Regional Quinlan by HCEMS, with non-life threatening injuries, and the driver of the Ford Flex was pronounced dead on scene.
The investigation is ongoing, and no further information is available at this time.
