Maxine Dunaway Watson Leverett

Maxine Dunaway Watson Leverett who was born on February 24, 1928, to Wayne and Iva Cobb Dunaway in Park Hill, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 13 at the age of 90.

Maxine suffered from congestive heart failure for many years. She never let that get in her way and lived alone, driving herself to her many activities at church, family gatherings, her quilting groups, and exercise classes up until February of this year. At that time, she moved into the home of her oldest daughter, Robbi, in Springfield, Mo.

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Robert Watson, and second husband Harold Leverett. She is also preceded in death by her two older sisters Flora Marie Colcleasure and Freda Melvia Colcleasure Lindahl as well as her youngest brother William Wayne Dunaway.

The only child who preceded her in death was her second born, Lloyd Watson, who died in infancy.

Maxine is survived by four children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her oldest son Micah (Doris) Watson, their son Jeremy (Tracy) Watson and their two children Quinton and Caroline. Maxine’s oldest daughter Robbi ( Michael) Watson Haynes and their two children, Joshua (Heather) Haynes and their children Molly and Henry. Robbi’s daughter Heidi (Damon) Hargraves and their three children Axel, Asa, and Waverly. Her youngest son Timothy (Robin) Watson, and their three sons Titus, (Deanna) Watson and their two sons, Zander and Maddox. Samuel Watson, Kristofer (Ashley) Watson and their son Isaiah. Her youngest daughter Ronda (Mitchell) Watson Gold and their two daughters, Anna (Paul) Bradshaw and their daughter Ailish, Ronda’s youngest daughter Moriah Gold. Maxine is also survived by three step-children, and many step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren. Her oldest step-daughter Jean  (Stanley) Leverett Hughes and their three children Sarah Hughes, James (Storm) Hughes and their three children Caleb, Micah, and Ellie. Jean’s youngest son Jared (Haley) Hughes and their children Katelyn, Adelyn, Colson. Maxine’s step-son Alan (Dana) Leverett and his oldest daughter Amy (Brian) Lowe and their four children, Sydney, Tatum, Tanner, Seth. His son Scot (Sarah) Leverett and their son Blaze. Then Alan’s youngest daughter Faith. Maxine’s youngest step-daughter Karen Leverett and her two daughters, Whitney (Dwight) Griffin and their two children Eve and Dean and Dacey (Joshua) Robinson.

Maxine is also survived by her brother Donald, and three sisters Maejean, Sara, and Sue and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and of course, her step-children, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren who all called her Memackie.

Maxine will be missed for many reasons. Her happiness, sense of humor, and laughter were as contagious as her positive attitude. She leads her life as an example of how a Christian should conduct themselves and is an example to everyone who knew her for how to get over life’s hurdles with grace, dignity, thoughtfulness, and humor.

Services will be held at Lynch Funeral Service in Greenville, Texas at 10 a.m., Friday, August 17. Maxine’s wish was that any memorials made in her memory be sent to Hunt County Shared Ministries, also known as FISH. Burial will be at the Dunaway Cemetery in Madison County Arkansas at a date to be determined.
