Hundreds of bags of canned goods and fresh vegetables were distributed to those in need Saturday at Christ Community Church.
Because of the generosity of the community, more than 1,000 families will have food on the table for Thanksgiving, and places serving meals to those in need will have what they need to prepare Thanksgiving meals.
Hunt County Shared Ministries was organized to help meet basic emergency needs of families residing within Hunt County. Organized in 1980, the ministry has grown from a small pantry to providing services ranging from food to prescription medicines.
Each year, the ministry serves more than 19,000 families in crisis. Also known as FISH, it is supported by a coalition of churches, individuals, local businesses, a partner agency with the United Way of Hunt County and the North Texas Food Bank.
Hunt County Shared Ministries is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization and all donations are tax-deductible.
