GEUS would like to thank the many people and utilities that assisted in restoring electric, internet and cable TV services during the past few days.
A series of devastating storms passed through Greenville, disrupting utility services to more than half of Greenville’s citizens and interrupting the lives of even more. GEUS is proud to be a part of a community that pulled together quickly to bring back normalcy.
GEUS crews were assisted by linemen from numerous other public power cities and neighboring member-owned utilities such as Garland, Denton, Weatherford, Lower Colorado River Authority and FEC Electric.
Having worked through the weekend, crews have now restored electric service to all but 13 customers.
The original storm caused severe damage to a transmission line including fiber optic cabling that impacted internet and cable TV service to many customers. Most all those services have now been restored except for 60 that are scheduled for completion.
“A utility can prepare and plan for a major event, but you don’t fully know how you will perform until something occurs”, said GEUS General Manager Alicia Price. “I’m very proud of all GEUS employees and very thankful for all the support we received from the Greenville community and the Public Power community,” Price added.
