The Greenville Police Department is now accepting applications for the Citizens Police Academy scheduled to start May 6, 2019.

The Citizens Police Academy provides citizens with an inside look at how the Greenville Police Department operates through a series of 10
Monday night classes. The classes cover topics in Communications/911, Patrol Operations, Crime Prevention, Narcotics, Tactical Unit, K-9, DWI Procedures, Family Violence, and Criminal Investigation/Crime Scene.

The student will also get to “Ride Along” with an Officer. These classes will consist of lectures, demonstrations, tours, and hands-on participation. Classes are free of charge and open to anyone who lives or works in Greenville who is at least 21 years of age.

Graduates of the Citizens Police Academy can join other past graduates in the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. The Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association continues to work with the Greenville Police Department through volunteering, special projects, and events.

The Greenville Citizens Police Academy has 566 graduates from 36 classes. Last year Alumni volunteered over 1000 hours of their time to the Police Department.
