Walmart plans to unveil a new, inexpensive tablet to rival the iPad.
According to Bloomberg, the world’s largest retailer will introduce the inexpensive, kid-friendly tablet under its ONN store brand, which focuses on affordable electronics. According to reports, Walmart plans to overhaul its electronics department over the next year, after spending the past year honing in on its apparel department.
Tara House, a Walmart spokesperson, confirmed with Bloomberg the product is in the works, but declined to comment further.
The tablet will be made by a Chinese supplier and will run on Google’s Android operating system, based on photos filed with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission.
Neither the price nor the release date has been disclosed.
