The problem is finding the perfect kitchen knife and still being able to afford going grocery shopping.
Brandless is a company that’s set out to make a ripple in what we know of consumerism in today’s world. A group of “thinkers, eaters, doers and lovers of life with big dreams about changing the world” got together and became the founders of this business.
In the words of Brandless – “Better stuff, fewer dollars. It’s that simple.” Check out their business model in the diagram attached.
Brandless partners with Feeding America to donate a meal to someone in need every time you shop on their site.
So what is it?
The website features anything from cleaning products, canned foods, granola bars, personal hygiene products, to office supplies and, you guessed it, kitchen knives. Here’s the kicker – everything on the site is $3. Literally, everything.
I thought I would give it a try so I bought a spatula, slotted spoon, serving spoon, chef’s knife, serrated bread knife, and a paring knife. I haven’t tried food yet, but it’s next on my list.
I spent $19 which included my six items and one dollar shipping (using the code: Hello). I was pretty doubtful that a $3 knife could be of any use to me but I must say, I’ve had worse. The knives are sharp, sturdy and they don’t seem flimsy like other cheaper alternatives.
I don’t think this is the lifelong kitchen knife that I will pass along to my future children, but for $3 I certainly don’t have any regrets. The other items are of great quality as well and they are attractive, so that’s always a bonus.
