A proposed bill in Texas would ban food stamp recipients from buying junk food using food stamps.

Proposed by Texas State Rep. Briscoe Cain, House Bill 4364 would prevent recipients from buying soda, candy, chips and energy drinks with their food stamps.

If passed, the bill would take effect Sept. 1, 2019.

  1. I think that this bill should fail. As a TN recipient of foodstamps, I know that they are barely enough to feed one for a few weeks even if on junk related items. If you think that this will be of benefit I implore you to execute the bill and then keep eyes on your crime rates. As they will rise out the roof when you take the only sufficiently and less costly food items away.
