The Hot Diggity Dog Jog is set for this Saturday, April 6, 2019, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Greenville Sports Park.

During the event, Commerce ISD Police K-9 Officer Coco and her handler, Officer Dave Contreras, will provide a demonstration.

“I will do an obedience demonstration and also I’ll speak about who she is and where she came from,” Contreras said. “I will also speak about looking at local shelters and how people should consider adopting loveable pets from the shelters.”

Coco is a rescue dog from the Pflugerville Animal Shelter in Central Texas. Since her initial narcotics detection training, she has worked with Contreras each day at the Commerce ISD Police Department in Commerce. She has been in service since January 2018.

In addition to K-9 Coco, there will be activities for children including pony rides, a petting zoo, Battle Balls and more.

The 5K run/ walk will begin at 9 a.m. and the 1-mile walk will start at 10 a.m.

The Greenville Sports Park is at 3603 Leo Hackney Boulevard in Greenville.
