A candlelight vigil has been set to remember those involved with the recent shooting in Royse City tonight at 7:15 p.m.

The vigil will be held near the entrance of Royse City High School, 700 FM 2642.

The shooting happened early Sunday morning, around 3 a.m.

Royse City Police Department was notified by dispatch of gunshots being fired in the 3100 block of Overstreet Lane in the Woodland Creek subdivision.

According to Darnell Franklin, Public Information Officer for Royse City Police Department, when officers arrived, they found two people had been shot dead.

“It is unknown at this time what led to this shooting, however, it is believed that at least a third individual was involved and left the location prior to our arrival,” Franklin said. “Unfortunately, this involved a current and former student of Royse City High School. The investigation is ongoing, so the identities are being withheld at this time.”

Franklin said the department has reason to believe this is an isolated incident and there is nothing that would indicate a further threat to the public or students and staff of Royse City Independent School District.

Anyone with information should call the department at 972-636-9422.
