Estranged husband of Nicole Kennedy-Pride jailed


The Greenville Police Department responded to a welfare concern call Feb. 15, 2019, at 9:09 a.m. in the 5600 block of Stonewall Street in Greenville.

Once inside the home, police found the body of a female who was unresponsive. The victim turned out to be Nicole Kennedy-Pride.


Matthew Kenton Pride, 37 of Greenville was taken into custody on Friday morning. He was arraigned this morning at the Hunt County Detention Center. He is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond for a violation of protective order which was granted to Nicole Pride.

Nicole Pride had filed for divorce on Jan.31 and was granted a temporary restraining order against Matthew Pride that very day. Matthew Pride filed a counter-petition for divorce and a temporary agreement was reached on Feb. 4. The case was to be heard on June 1.

Nicole Pride was the owner of Shear Pride Suites and Spa in Greenville. Services are still pending.

The police department has not released any further information.
