A local man received 22 years for beating a man and setting him on fire last spring.

Jason Randel Christy, 41 of West Tawakoni, was charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. He took a plea bargain and pleaded guilty earlier this week. In exchange for his plea, he was sentenced to 22 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice – Institutional Division.

According to Hunt County District Attorney Noble Walker, Christy had a prior criminal history that could have netted him up to life in prison.
