The appeal by a local man who was convicted of murdering William Shay Sisk has been denied.
The state appeals court denied the case Wednesday, affirming the conviction given to Curtis Doys Rust Jr., 62. Hewas sentenced to 55 years in prison for the murder of 38-year-old Sisk in his Caddo Mills driveway.
Rust pleaded not guilty during the trial, claiming self-defense.
The murder took place May 20, 2017, when Sisk was shot to death in his driveway on County Road 2172. Rust was arrested and taken to Hunt County Detention Center where he was held on a bond of half a million dollars.
He was represented by Russell P. Brooks.
