The Dallas Symphony Orchestra packed up its woodwind, brass, percussion and string instruments and headed east to Greenville to share the magic of classical music with 2,200 Hunt County elementary students.
The special youth concert is organized every year by the Dallas Symphony with assistance by Greenville ISD. Students from as far away as Paris, Texas, gathered under one roof with their neighbors at the Greenville Municipal Auditorium.
Prokofiev’s delightful fairy tale was vividly brought to life by narrator Quincy Roberts, who narrated the story of Peter and the Wolf. A perfect introduction to the orchestra, the students delighted as the musical instruments represented the personality of each character, from the adventurous Peter’s sprightly strings, to Grandfather’s bassoon, and of course, the sly Wolf’s French horns!
