Greenville Rotary Club recently donated to Women in Need.

Greenville Rotarian David Weiland presented a check for $350 to the Women in Need organization.

Women In Need Inc. began in 1980 with a group of Greenville citizens consisting of a DHS Social Worker, Police Personnel, and several business owners and clergy concerned about the lack of resources for family violence in the Hunt County area.  After meeting and determining that the need was great, these 9 citizens began a campaign to raise funds for the Family Violence Shelter.  Two local businesswomen, Doris Jones and Midlre (Mo) Bates contributed the first $5,000 and an additional $4,000 were raised.

Women In Need Inc. saw much growth and expansion in its nearly 40 years.  It now has roughly 30 employees, four resale shops, “My Sister’s Closet, and two offices in two counties offer client and legal advocacy, shelter, resource referrals, and a prevention program to two counties.
